5ms monitor ?

I picked up a farily cheap monitor: W43 series (still can't find the actual number yet) SG 22 WS. The guy said it had a 2ms response time. Resolution and contrast is great at 1920x1080 but when I watched a few 24p files that I have rendered, so I know it's 24p, it's jumpy, if I can use that word. But obviously I can notice it's not as smooth as it should be.

I googled it and it's listed as 5ms...if I have the right page:

I installed the drivers. Am I missing something?
If this is what 5ms looks like then I'm going to have a problem doing video.
If so I'm heading back to the store tomorow and he won't be smiling when I'm done with him.
Thought I'd get some advice first.
-Thanks.

That's odd Rap.

At 5 ms, you shouldnt notice anything at all, since the refresh time is far faster than the frame rate, by a factor of 10 or so, if my math is right. Unless you are getting some weird syncing issue?

Try running some 25 fps footage on it, see if it does the same thing.

Standard D-Sub to the PC. We had an LG 4:3 before, 2ms, and it looked smooth.
This one looks like it's almost skipping frames, viewing 24p, but it's very slight. Hard to describe. Like shooting with a fast shutter maybe. (?)

Here's the model #: 2243TV
This is the closest link I could find. These specs look okay?
I don't get the hype. Maybe I've never really seen 24p before now. But why would 5ms be ...forget it. Ha. Weird.

Bottom line is the guy said 2ms and it's 5 and there is a big difference.
Anyways I'll leave it for a few days and listen.

//Edit, next day: Probably my dated PC can't handle the extra screen pixels (regardless of resolution settings).
///yep, that's what is is. I'm getting laggin audio too, lol.
I guess I can test my renders on the ol' TV before finalizing. Other than the video sucking with this monitor/PC combo, I like the extra workspace and detail so doing graphics will be better. Give and take I guess until I can get a new PC haha (shakes head).

Try to eliminate the unknowns:

First try attaching a different monitor to you existing set up to rule out monitor.

Then try attaching a different PC set-up to your monitor, to rule out that it is not the PC/hardware

Hey Rap, I thought that was a regular TV type of problem you were describing. Not hooked up to your computer. Sorry.

An i/o card might not do that problem at all, though they are pricy.

Thanks Matt. I think it's just the PC being dated. I have a GeForce FX 5200 so that might be part of the problem though too. It's hard to imagine a few ms making that much of a difference so you make a good point about it probably not being the monitor.
A 1.8 Ghz CPU isn't much to brag about.

The other monitor was 1024x768 I think, at 2ms and this has 1920x1080 at 5ms.
Pretty sure it's in the card or the cpu or both. At any rate I can deal with it. It was a little hard getting over the intial shock, lol, I have to admit.
