A couple of shots I took yesterday, I'm trying to build a portfolio of panno's and landscapes.

I keep looking at your pictures Kp... and one question keeps flooding through my brain just like the ocean over those rocks...

"What do I need to do so that I can live in a place of such beauty?"

Some days you must have to catch your breath just to snap those shots.
 
Those are very nice shots. I wish I could visit.

I think you're off to a great start with your landscape portfolio.

Liquidate! What are you good at? What can you do? Make it happen if you want. You could be here faster than you think.

Would have more shots but my DAMN TRIPOD BROKE!! ahhhhggghhh!!! They always seem to make the WEAKEST parts in the most important places. Like the bolt that holds the pivoting head on. Mine broke off after hiking 2 hours to shoot this 400ft waterfall. Needless to say I wasn't able to capture it properly without the tripod. Damn Hawaiian voodoo!

I'm curious what time of day these shots were taken. One of the most appealing things about your pictures is that they have an air of "untouched beauty".

Are these places usually crawling with people by 10am? How do you get to these areas and how many people do you see while you're shooting?

Are you getting the panno aspect by cropping? If you've got a 5D I figure that's the easiest way to do it. Have you ever stitched photos together? If you take a file to a large format printer it's kind of crazy to think that you can make a 30+ megapixel print.

Have ALL these photos been with that Tamron lens? At some point would you mind posting a couple small shots that show the extreme wide and tele of the same lockdown shot? I'd like to see if there's any pincushion or barrel... since we already established that there is no vignetting.

Your'e in luck. I just recently started cropping pixels for the first time, a series of shots that are 12"X 12" I'm calling the series "Squares".... These are shots that "I" don't think can hold their own, but with other "squares" oh the hallway possibilities are endless.

The longer Panno is the result of 3 images stitched together.
The top is the result of 6 images stitched. From our screen perspective the panno sky starts about 1/2 inch above the mountains.
The second image was meant to be enlarged to like 50"X 120" or something crazy like that but I ended up cropping some sky pixels, something just didn't feel right to me.
My end intention for these panno's is to end up in the lobby's of Hawaiian hotels. You should see the stuff the have now. gaaaackkk. Don't mean to rain on anyones parade but WHAT WAS THE ART BUYER THINKING is what i'm thinking with some of these pieces.
As far as people not being in shots: If the frame is small and the people are few, I'll kindly ask them to move. They usually do.
If the frame is huge and the people are few. I'll leave em or Clone Stamp em. But I won't just do it from the 8% view and not even 100% I'll clone them from 400% up. This makes for a very clean Clone.
But most of the time people just aren't there. Maui advertizes all the commercial locations that you can just park-get-out-enjoy.
I try to shoot places that I'm even scared to go. The "Haiku Bay" shot was gnarly to say the least. at some points it's like you fall, you die.
I'm really exited to say I just got my Tokina 17mm prime in the mail, Ebay Plug!, and will be posting some shots soon.
Can you say VENUS POOL oh yeah, it's all good..Fresh water meets, mixes and mingles with the warm Hawaiian ocean to create quite the color palete.
And yes these were all shot with the Tamron 28-75 Xr Di somethin somethin...
They were both shot at 28 mm as well. The cam is clean....

The TOP shot is 3 images.
The BOTTOM is 6. Damn editing, or lack there of.

Lol, good stuff. This is a dvxuser site and he might have stumbled in like what the hell is a 5D especially with the whole 2D 3D and 4D movement. Okay, I'm confusing myself. Time to eat a Tigers Milk.
