5D footage no longer plays in vegas. help!

Poopooing Itunes updated itself, while i was working on something with raw 5D footage.

The QT installer tried to update while iw as working with H264 o nthe timeline.

Now after it did this, all the images are black in vegas. no video, just audio.

H264 plays fine in QT outside of vegas, in its normal viewer....

sigh*......

What does one do? i uninstalled VEGAS, and QT. reinstalled them both in every order... QT first then vegas.. Black. Vegas, then QT.... Black.... this sucks...
 
Hey Timur,

Check your QT to see if it updated to 7.6.6. Several users have been experiencing problems with the latest QT with Vegas and h.264 movie files.

Going back to QT 7.6 or any version before 7.6.6 fixes the problem. You can get the old install files at apple's site.

Hi TimurCivan, what did you do to resolve the problem? I have the same issue and followed the exact same steps you mentioned in your first post. I have installed QT 7.6.4.

What happens when I render is that the render looks good for a few mins then the preview window goes black after. I've tried using the search function on here but sometimes I get a fatal error so sorry if it has been answered somewhere else.
 
I don't know if 7.6.4 is old enough. I use 7.6.2 without issue. Alternately, Vegas Pro 9.0e works with the latest version of QT.

I never EVER suggest keeping iTunes on an editing machine. Recipe for trouble.
