Nice work. Wow, that sparkler shot at the end you couldn't really pull off with anything by DSLRs in that price range. What dolly/slider and stabiliser were you using?

If you don't mind sharing, i'm just curious as to what you offer your clients aside from a short edited package like this? Do you give them the full recorded event with less editing (more natural taping of the wedding?)

And if you do, how to handle speeches with the fat32 4GB limitation?

Thanks for the kind words.

The interview audio was recorded with a wireless lav, an the ceremony was a wireless lav on the officiant and a mono line from the DJ's PA into a Zoom H4n. The rest of the audio was either a Rode videomic straight into the 5D w/ automatic gain compensation turned on, or the built in mic on the 7D (both with a decent amount of EQ/tweaking).

The low light capability of these cameras is incredible. Not only would that sparkler shot have been impossible on traditional cameras (in this price range), but there's no way any of the reception could have been usably captured without invasive lighting otherwise.

The slider is a DIY slider using the IGUS rail and carriage. Also used a Glidecam HD4000.

We're still experimenting with what works best, but for this couple we'll deliver a DVD with the following:

*Highlight clip posted above
*Reception highlight clip (similar length) which includes the first dances, cake cutting, bouquet and garter toss, etc.
*Full ceremony with integrated Bride/Groom interviews (detailing how they first met/fell in love).

And for this couple we did a video of the bachelor party, which was a day of airsoft on a military base.

As far a speeches go, we haven't run into any problems with the time limit. They almost never run that long each, and we just stop and start rolling between each speech. With two cameras it's easy to stagger our start times so that the 2-3 second delay when starting and stopping never overlaps. Of all the limitations these cameras have, I think the 12 minute limit isn't much of an issue unless you need to set the camera on a tripod and let it run for an entire event unattended.

Nice job. Really nice job. I'm always thrilled when I see my fellow industry professionals pushing the envelope. Thanks for making a high-quality event documentary and for telling a compelling story. Thank you.
