Hey Forum Members....

Quick question. I've built a homemade 35mm adapter for my DVX using 58mm Asian +10 macros. Just wondering if there is any advantage in using 72mm macros instead, and then stepping down to the tube that holds the ground glass (Asian sells 72mm +10 macros on Ebay).
I realize Asian macros are cheap! Just wondering if physically speaking, there might be a difference between 58mm and 72mm macros.

Thanks.

The biggest difference is what your camera sees, and how your adapter is setup. We abandoned 58mm achromats from the begginning (we've always used 72mm achromats) because there were issues with edge softness and physical vignetting (on 82mm HD100s) with the 58mm lenses. Ideally the outer 10% of the achromat would be well outside the imaging area to ensure that the sweet spot of the glass was being used.

Well, I answered my own question: I purchased 72mm Asian macros off eBay and they look and work a lot better than the 58mm. Virtually no barrel distortion!:cheesy:

Can you post the links or name of that 72mm Asian macros, i searched in eBay they are listing a lot.

Thanks
