I would love to see one of these lens used in motion! Kubrick used the infamous Ziess 50 f/0.7 yet in B.L but the lens was used at infinity(that or I am puzzled).

Yes the A.C will most likely loss focus at f/0.95 but in the proper scene this is acceptable. It would be interesting to see.

Where can I find test or examples of any f/0.95 lens?

If you are looking for a really sharp picture with shallow DOF while at the same time not breaking the bank...then stick with M42 Super Takumar 1.4's. I have a non super multi coated version and it's a great lens. You can pick up the Super Multi-Coated version for under $400, and the plain jain for under $200.....go to 2.8 and you have an image that is just superb.

Shallow depth of field is cool and all, but don't go overboard buying lenses that cost thousands of dollars.

At the same place i managed to get a full frame sigma 18-35mm for canon EF for $45.

I don't actually own any canon cameras yet; I just couldn't pass up that deal!

I've shot some nice looking stuff with the super takumar. it is a lovely lens even if it is a little yellow. I just got a yashica yashinon 50mm dx and out of my dslr, it blows the socks off the tak in terms of sharpness and color wide open. Will shoot some video with it and see how it performs on the blade.
If your going to get a super takumar, try and get the smc version or the very least the super-multi-coated version. There was a smc version on ebay going for $79 a week ago. I was going to get it but got the yashica instead and i'm glad i did.

Doesn't SMC stand for Super Multi Coated.

So they are the same lens...

Lots of people use the Canon (or any brand) 50mm f/1.4 or the f/1.2 It shouldn't look too different.

It looks completely different, for several different reasons.

DVXuser's QuestFest winner NIGHTLIGHT utilized a 50/0.95 for night sequences, you can go and see the footage there.

yes it does but pentax released 3 different versions starting at super takumar, super-multi-coated and then the smc takumar. This is going by what is labeled on the front ring. They introduced better coatings with each version.

Hey, my first post here on this forum (just an FYI, I love it!)
I am trying to get into videography more, but I am a professional photographer and have to say that f/.95 is VERY different from f/1.4. This is the difference of about 1 and 1/3 stops of light, so it is would be the same as opening up from f/6.3 to f/4 or f/3.5 to f/2. But at the same time, the DOF on an f/.95 lens is going to be ridiculously tiny, and it was notoriously soft wide open. still a really really cool lens though :D
If you REALLY want to spend some money and get a huge aperture, look at the Leica 50mm f/.95 that they recently released. It is $10,000, but it is a beast, supposedly....
