50fps and 25fps Mixing Video Look and Film Look

Hi.

Just a quick question, I just want to make sure I am on the right track.

I am trying to make a short video that looks like an old 1960's black and white tv show. So, for the outdoor shots, I am shooting at 25p and for the indoor shots I am shooting 50p. To attain the look I want on the export, I should create a FCP project that has a 50fps timebase and then just import the 25fps footage into that.

This way the 50p footage will retain that smooth video look and the 25p stuff will still look more film like and stuttery, correct?

You have it right. The 25p will retain its look in the 50p stream. Just make you sure you don't do any frame blending (shouldn't really matter, but to be safe).
