O.K. trying to get better sound. How do you decide which one to set it to. If it depends on the Mic where do I find this info. I'm using a Sennheiser EW500 wireless. So I have it in Channel 2 "mic" not" line"
Phantom power "off" Channel one is set to channel 2. How do I know if I need to change the gain from 50db to 60db,
Thanks in advance to you sound guys!!!!

stay with 50 , mic level input

1 .make your transmiter get good levels so the picks would fly almost to 0 on the most high levels of conversation
put the camera dials about 12 o clock
reduse or increas the gain on the reciever(internal menu) you will get dialog picking for -8 dbfs
thats about all

Thanks Oleg 2 the dial position was extremly helpful as a place to start. Thanks bwest for recommending Oleg 2 again. Every bit of info I can get helps.
Thankyouverymuch!!!

Hi,

if you use a wireless mic theres no need to set the input on the cam to "mic" because the transmitter already does the job of a needed pre-amplifier.

That is true, but I have used SK 500/EW 500 for a production and know that it can be set to line levels.
Microphone signals amplification should be done as early as possible in the signal chain.

ok and what about people who have audio ltd 2000 or micron or mipro ( not that 2000 cant pull line level as well but that another story)
about where is the amplification would happend is depends , the transmitter not really amplify to line level as you know :-)
i dont really know if g-2 amplify first then attunuate or oposit
and i dont know till now if dvx 100 /200 has line ins or just attunuate , so please :-)

dont know about Micron or Mipro but:

.. so I just posted my experiences with those :o)

Transmitters do not amplify to line levels, thats true, but especially for wireless stuff it is important to use as much bandwitdh as possible for the signal.

I agree with MM here. If you can output line level from the receiver it is better to set the camera to line level. Why go through the process twice?

that is depends on camera and reciever individualy
doesnt really matter for 99 % if you go line or mic level from the reciever
i have zaxcom which much supiriur to g-2 **** but has poor resolts when you pu;l line out which is -6 db level , it become noisy when you go to the camera and open the "line ins till the end " with mic level-40 i get much better results
the lectrosonics is amplify to line level first then attunuate for what you really need , as it amps to maximum + 6 it more acseptable .
so really every unit is different and behaive diferent .
whith g-2 i didnt heare any better resolts with line level .
the only benefit could be inside soundmixer bag where there could be dc hum problems and ground problems relating to devices then using line level is more safty .
so this is not black and white stuff , espessialy with g-2 .
