503 HDV Fluid head Making noise

Anyone familiar with the 503 hdv pro fluid head have any issues with "crackling" sounds when you adjust the drag? Just bought a 503 Hdv today and noticed that noise after making several adjustments? I'm assuming that this is normal as the fluid cartridges adjust. Anyone experienced with this head, please let me know.

Thanks

Same thing happens with me.
And by the way (not trying to jack your thread) but dose anyone els have "play" right before they pan?

Yes, I have play(slight motion if thats what you mean) just as I grab the pan bar and stop the pan. When I let go of the pan bar at the end, it jumps back a tiny bit. Tried turning off and adjusting counter balance and re-balancing the cam but to no avail. I find that if I REALLY SLOWLY take my hand off the pan bar at the end of the pan, the pullback is not noticable. This is all on Z99 zoom on DVX. Not even noticable on establishing shots. You got the same issue hungry?

The "crackling" noise may be grit or (most likely) air bubbles in the fluid - I don't believe that you can do much about it unfortunately

With the "drift back" and "play" on panning, it's also most likely that the fluid is the culprit (and why people pay insane $$ for heads that don't suffer from these issues)
