$500 need adapter and lense!

Well the Letus is rotating adapter and if you get the Letus35FE it flips the image for you. The apefos one looks more DIY than Letus.

so $300, plus whatever extras you get for the adapter itself, and then you're gonna

shell out bucks for a lense (or several).

do you REALLY need one?

Why you have a doubt for the need for adapter, I was thinking of getting one for my DVX100B too,
Please share with us if you have unsuccessful experience with 35mm adapters

What they meant is that adding a 35mm adapter adds a bunch of complications that you may not be aware of. For instance, adapters shoot images upside down by nature, how are you going to flip the images? Does your budget covers an external monitor that'll do this? Depending on the adapters there are various levels of light loss, compounded by the lenses themselves. Do you have the extra lights to throw on the scene if you need it? What about pulling focus on the 35mm lense? You'll discover that this is much more difficult than using a focus ring and you might need a follow focus and a dedicated assistant to work with focusing. What about setup time? Most adapters require very precise mounting or else you get vignetting or unacceptably soft images. Does your onset workflow allowed for the extra time?

anyone who buys a 35mm adapter needs to do alot of research first. you can't just snap it on and start shooting. well... you CAN.. but you're probably not going to get very good results.

I know most people, myself included, want a lens adapter primarily because of the shallow depth of field. If that's your major reason, there are alot of tutorials on this very site that helps you have a shallow depth of field (it is extremely easy to do on the dvx 100b especially extreme closeups. I pretty much a heckler for people to use their editing etc on plug ins (which you will do anyway). Another suggestion may be to take that 500 and: a) let it ride on a table at vegas b) play the lottery c) play the stockmarkets d) put it in the bank and let the interest grow [by the time it turns into something, film cameras will be ridiculously low] or e) by a machine gun and rob a bank until you get enough money to buy a higher end camera, lol

APEFOS is a nightmare

APEFOS is a nightmare

I am doing a new post under the hvx200 category on this adapter since I bought one from the company. Hit me up with any questions you might have and I'll try to answer stuff as a customer. So far, though, I wouldn't recommend it AT ALL since the customer service sucks balls.
