let's face it. People go see generic, derivative crap because they know what it is. Distributors demand it because they can sell it. Studios produce it because they can distribute it.

I'm not judging, just observing. I personally don't think there's anything wrong with Hollywood. It operates under the same principles it always has, and it always will. 95% of it is crap. That was just as true in 1931, 1951, 1981 or 2011. They throw together a product that they bet people will spend money on. They take the curves a little slowly, and don't always adapt to the audience behind the visionaries. But they latch on to anything that they think will sell tickets. That's how it works.

The hard truth for us independent filmmakers is that 95% of independent films are crap as well, and suffer because they're made by visionaries.

But hey, we do what we do becase we can't really do anything else, right?
