4x4 Nd Grad Filters

In the market for some nd soft edge grad filters to fit into my 4x4 filter tray. The only ND grads I can find in 4x4 are the Tiffen soft edge filters which are not sold in my country and which are a bit too dear for the limited use i intended to use them for.

I have also found a formatt hitech set for a reasonable price but have not had any experience with this company. I am not sure why, but there doesn't seem to be too many options in this size.

What are some good options I can use to help preserve some detail in the skies for landscape shots?

I have a set of the Formatt Hitech 'Firecrest' Grad NDs (in 4x4 so that I can adjust the position of the filters within my matteboxes). And highly recommend them. The 'Firecrest' versions of the filters are completely colour neutral (which is a big deal, particular if you need to use the filters in a vertical orientation).

However the Firecrests are also the opposite of cheap.

Unfortunately, NDs are one of those items you really just have to suck up the cost of. You need the highest quality to preserve the integrity of your image.

There are other options now (alongside the Firecrests) that are also supposed to be completely colour neutral. The 'True NDs' I've heard good things about. Throw a little research into the options, but in 2018, I certainly wouldn't invest in any NDs that weren't of this newer generation technology, that's perfectly colour neutral.
