4k timelapse

Please excuse the newbie question but I couldn't find the answer anywhere. I am making sets of images to be made into a timelapse movie. Currently I convert to jpeg, resize then use quicktime pro to make 29.97fps video. What video file would I use if I were to make the videos available for anything from 1080p to 4k? Or would it be better just to supply image sets in either TIFF or RAW and let the end user use his/her software.

The easiest way to get your footage to "talk" to your NLE is to use after effects to take the sequentally named (You did have the photos sequentally named?) into after effects, Import them as an asset and tick the box "jpeg sequence". It will import all of the jpegs into a jpg sequence. Put it into a timeline and render it out as a video.

I'm not sure of any free software that can automate this process for you.

Quicktime mjpeg at quality 100 will give you transperency.
