4K smallHD Monitors and new O’Connor Head

[Run&Gun]

Surprised no one posted these yesterday. I would have, but I was working. Actually working today, too, but nice break for several hours.

SmallHD now has 4K monitors

And O’connor finally has a head that a lot of us have been asking for, for several years. Something between the 1030/1030DS and the 2560. Ultimate 1040, which is roughly the size of the 1030/1030DS, but with slightly higher payload capacity of 45lbs and full +/-90 tilt.

Flanders certainly still has the reputation, probably better colors still too, but good to see 4K coming to field monitors. Hopefully not too long before Flanders comes out with affordable ($2k-$5k) 4K monitors as well.

It always makes me scratch my head why high end and expensive field monitors are so behind the specs of consumer TVs. Say like seven years ago we had all of these field monitors that said, "1080p monitor," but that was tricky advertising as the 1080p just meant it could accept a 1080p input, and the resolution of the actual monitor was 480p. Meanwhile, iPad and TVs were all 1080p at the time.

Yeah, I saw that after the fact. Unless I’m in a hurry and just checking certain threads, I usually start at the top and work my way down.

The first “HD” field monitor I bought was the Panasonic BT-LH900A. 4:3 panel, 1024x768 and $5,000. The HD image had to be letterboxed, so you were even less close to HD, in the end.
