4K Recording at 24 fps, UHD Recording at 30 fps and 1080p Full HD Recording at up to 60 fps. As a 4K-capable camera, the NX1 is among the most compact cameras in its class. Aside from 4K, video may be recorded in Ultra-HD as well as in full HD. To help ensure that even the highest resolution video files are easy work with, the NX1 accommodates UHS-I or UHS-II memory cards and employs HEVC (H.265) compression. Additionally, video may be recorded directly to an external device with a 4:2:2 (8-bit) output signal.

I have said on these boards before. Samsung is the one company with nothing to lose by putting out a camera which destroys the competition as far as features are concerned.

They have no true high end video to speak of to cannibalize and they have the means to execute properly

I would really like to see some moire and skin tones shot with this. If those are clean this could be a killer to a lot of others out there. I'm no longer heavily vested in anything so jumping ship for me is not a big deal.

Very true. This could be a good camera to use while we watch 4K camera prices plummet over the next two years.

It looks like an excellent camera. APS-C, 4k, H265. Great! Nobody is paying much attention here but this little camera is going to sell very well.

B&H pricing: Camera and lens combo: about $2800, body (about $1500) and lens (about $1100) bought separately is $200 less than the combo????

I read somewhere that the combo included the Battery Grip and something else as well but it doesn't say that in the BH page.

I recently bought an a7s and, for me at least, the killer feature is not 4K or lowlight ability, it is slog2. Both on the 7D2 and on this one, I see no mention of DR, or of a specific image profile to keep it alive in video mode.

Really interested in this camera as a possible upgrade from the GH3. But I need to know about the dynamic range and the quality of the 1080p / 60p footage.

Also, how is it to edit native h.265 clips? Is that much harder on the CPU? Will it be possible to edit the clips natively on my computer?
And can I fit my Sigma 18-35mm with a Nikon mount on it with a Novoflex adapter or something? So I can still change the aperture?

For some reason that I don't really understand, I'm strangely intrigued by this new camera. Actually, I think perhaps it's the new lens that they announced which has sparked my interest. Nice range at a maximum 2.8. I generally dislike most things Samsung but this... this has me interested. I won't buy, but I'll definitely keep an eye on their stuff going forward.

That sure would be great for consumers if Samsung would just go all out no holds barred since they don't have reasons to cripple products and do marginal updates like the others do. As said, they have the resources to design and produce.

Prior to this post I wasn't aware Samsung was even in this part of the game. I briefly saw a timelapse playing at Walmart that said shot by Samsung xxx , but I rather assumed it was some high end phone they were promoting. I think it was this NX 1.
Since I own nothing Samsung (short of some monitors) I therefore have no Samsung lenses, no remotes...nothing. So that complicates a new camera purchase somewhat. But at that price, it is certainly worth a serious look, now and onward.

Exactly, and this gives me hope it will perform as or close to what the specs and the hype from the company promise. This is their 'flagship', and offers potential to lure people from (especially) Nikon and Canon users.

I want to see lowlight capability with this new backside illuminated sensor. I'd also like to know sensor DR, and know if it has pro-video features like focus peaking, zebras, audio meters, etc...

Can't wait for the user tests to come out.

Andrew Reid talked with Sung Lae Park of Samsung at Photokina. He shares some pretty interesting information, like, “The source 4K file from the camera weighed in at just 910MB for 7 minutes 23 seconds of footage shot on the Pro quality setting. Once converted to ProRes 422 HQ the footage weighed in at 26GB”
He also says he hopes to have an interview with Samsung and if you have ay questions you want answered, ask them on his forum.

wow! insane!

come on H.265!

is it possible to have firmware upgrades to existing cameras out there to add this after the fact or is there something that has to be part of the sensor tech in order to have this?
