Ill be getting the gh4 soon so I think I might need to upgrade some stuff on my pc to edit smoothly in adobe and fcp.

i5 3570k 4.2ghz
8gb corsair 1600mhz ram
128gb ssd + 1tb sata+ 2tb ext
500Gb hd (osx)
gtx 760 2gb sc
600 watt corsair psu

For cpu and gpu Im lookin at the i7 4770k, and Asus gtx 780 6gb strix what would give better power for editing
?Thanks

I'm pretty sure all your gear is totally fine to edit 4k in. The only thing I may upgrade is the amount of RAM you use. I'd bump it up to 16 or 32GB. The two upgrades you mention, however, from a hardware standpoint are almost trivial (the extra VRAM isn't, but probably isn't needed), especially the CPU upgrade.

One thing you may consider is getting the camera first, try to edit 4K on your PC and see what happens and if it's not satisfactory, look at upgrading then.

that should be fine to edit. Im at a non profit company using a $1200 standard HP computer and it cuts 4k with no issues. The only time i had an issue was using FCP 7. fcpx and premiere pro will edit with no problems

ya, 4k gh4 footage edits pretty smoothly on both osx and windows with premiere and Fcp 7 ect. How would I be able to tell if I actually should Get an extra 8gb of ram ?choppiness?
on osx side i get less than 400mb of free ram when i have 2-3 adobe programs open ect. + others
