4k adobe premiere system

If you had 10,000 - 12,000 budget, what would you buy to build a 4k adobe premiere system on a Mac?

i would need a computer, in out card and drives. I would want it to be stable enough to use with a client sitting behind me on a deadline.

thanks!

just curious, are thunderbolt 2 devices faster than other devices and can they easily handle 4k?

what about this:

Mac Pro 8 core

3.0 GHz

dual d700 gpus

1tb pcie flash storage

32 gb ram

promise Pegasus 8tb raid thunderbolt 2

blackmagic ultra studio 4k thunderbolt 2

I will offer my 2 cents worth.

I would not be building a Mac system for Adobe software.

I am sure many Mac users have no issues with Adobe software but the ones that do ...certainly seem to be more so than PC users from what I observe in forums. I have colleagues (Mac Users) who also experience "issues".

My absolutely unscientific conclussion is that the regular Mac O.S (updates, tweaks , flavours and variants) seems to be at the heart of the "issues" in many instances.

I would be really keen to hear from Mac Users who have never struck any issues with Adobe software and O.S's.

This is not a Ma vs PC thing ...so dont make it one! Simply my observation and opinion.

That pretty much uses up your entire budget, and you still need software, computer monitors, broadcast quality monitor, client preview monitor, audio monitors, XLR cables, audio monitor volume control/routing, backup hard drives, I know I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff.

I am going to have to +1 this. Definitely.

In that price range get an HP Z820 with a thunderbolt card and a Titan 6Gb graphics card, 64gb of system ram, external thunderbolt raid and call it done.

We already own audio mixers, speakers, cables, monitors, etc... I need a computer, I/o card and raid. I can go the PC route if you can give me some specifics. I need to buy a new system this week. Thanks!!!

I would do some looking and asking here..

I think there are a couple of recommended go to guys that will build a turn key system and you will find them in there. eg SafeHarbour.

For me..I have always had a little shop around the corner build my dedicated systems and they have always worked great.

I would not try to build a system based on a mail order supplier like DELL.

HP do make some turn keys as MAtt mentioned. HP 7820 etc...

Hi
Macs are great but I agree that Adobe currently runs better on PC iron. I build Audio and video workstations as part of my work, but only for people here in LA. If it helps I maybe can give you some advice. To advise, more detailed info is essential. I would spec differently for an editor cutting commercials versus someone doing long form stuff (Avid??). Knowing 4K is important and helps. With so many bits flying about are you working on different stuff or one project at a time? Are you on a network and sharing with others? How are you backing up? So many things go into getting it right. Can you get a box custom built or must you buy one off the shelf? Do you have tech support or is that part of the deal. Are you running other software like After Effects or Audition? Is the Machine going to be in a studio where noise is an issue. Rack mount or tower. I think rushing into this could cause later pain or at least regrets. If you are time crushed I may not be able to offer much as I am traveling from tomorrow morning until Tuesday. Vacation with wife, work is a no-no. But maybe you are still looking then or the above questions can help focus the discussion. Good Luck.
