4gb ram for fcp

Does FCP automaticaly use the maximum 4gb ram it can use or do you have to set it. I have 10 now and want to make sure its using all 4 possible gb

You can't control the RAM usage directly, like you could in OS9.
It's all managed by the system. Just make sure that FCP is the
only app running, have lots of free space on your boot drive,
and trust Apple. :grin:

That's wonderful, but you still can't force the MacOS to use a certain amount
for a certain app.

It's quite interesting to launch Activity Monitor and see your RAM usage
vs disk usage.

Yep RAM management is completely automated in OSX. I've found that once you have more than 2GB it's pretty much bullet proof. YMMV.
