4gb faster render than 6gb or 8gb ram

just added extra ram, i originally had 4-1gb sticks of ram, and have since added 2x 2gb ram to my system....but now the render time is way slower and there is no noticible difference at all.....what the crap?

and yes my motherboard supports the ram, actually up to 32 gb if i so choose.

i have an intel 3ghz processor dual core xeon and sweet ram which is 100% compatible, it shows up in task manager as being there but it doesn't help the performance a lick. i'm also running windows 7 ultimate and premiere cs4.

Rendering does not have much to do with RAM, rendering ususally has two bottlenecks in a standard PC: hard drive and CPU. Unless you are using GPGPU processing then graphics card would also help.

Get more than one hard drive (and the fastest speed possible eg 10k RPMs), look out for applications that use mult-cores for rendering, and add as many cores to your system as possible.
