48 Hour Film Project

Yes! I was up 28 hours straight, and that was probably getting off easy compared to the directors, EP, and post-production. I'm wiped out, but am stoked to see the final product at the screening this week.

We had 2 DVX100's rolling. Only one head clog, otherwise, those cameras held up great.

I participated in the LA 48Hour project; our team was "Karmic Films". We drew a tough category "musical/western" but pulled it off. Our film was titled "Phone Ranger". We had a pretty good experience; our biggest asset was that we had a professional writer on the project. I was gaffer / key grip / 2nd unit camera. Total cast and crew was around 35 people. We even had a cameo scene with Alexandra Paul (of Bay Watch fame) who was an absolute joy to work with.

We finished about 85% of our shots by the end of the first day, we had all our coverage by noon on the second day and the editor had the project finished with about an hour to spare.

All in all, I enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone. Not a bad way to spend a weekend.

We had musical as well. I wish we had done a musical western. That would have been great.

Our storyline was very simple & cute. Most of the other pieces were very dark storyline-wise. I shot & edited the piece but did not have input on the creative - no sleep Saturday night...

The screenings were a lot of fun.

Do you guys have yours posted online?

we drew mockumentary. "organized art" about mobsters who deal art. we had shooting done in the first day, started capturing/logging that night, had everything done with a good hour to spare. we won best costume design, best cinemetogrophy, best graphics, audience award, tied best director and best of greensboro.
