Re: 450 Photos (DVX with Mini35)

If you let the javascript do it's thing, eventually a decent size slideshow appears w/o signing up for anything. Hey Shannon, what's that silver handheld monitor dude in the brown is holding.  I need one of those.  Do you recall the manufactuer?  Thanx

ooops, that's you. my bad.

Re: 450 Photos (DVX with Mini35)

You don't need an account to view the larger photos, just let the web page do it's "pop-up" thing and you can watch the slideshow.  However, if you want to select photos individually from the thumbnails, you have to sign up....but sign up anyways...it's free and the space is unlimted (as long as you buy 1 photo per year).

UNIX: No, I got that Mini35 from A cool guy named Eric.  he owns INDIERENTALS in los angeles ( http://www.IndieRentals.com )  He has THREE Mini35 rigs (1 w/XL2, 1 w/DVX, 1 w/no camera but will soon be married to a Z1U)  he also has 35mm lens packages and lights and sound gear and all kindsa stuff.  he is TOTALLY INDIE FRIENDLY and there is nobody in town cheaper.  Birns & Sawyer only has 1 Mini35.

TIMEKODER13: that silver monitor is sweet ain't it.  It is a Portable DVD player, that has a swivel monitor that spins around 180 degrees and lays flat on itself.  I beleive its the only one ever made like that.  I needed an inexpensive, battery operated and cool looking field reference monitor that I can give to my directors while they shoot, and I needed it to be 16x9 switchable.  So the Sony Clamshell and most other TFT monitors were out......then I thought about it...."Hey, those portable DVD players you buy at Circuit City will be perfect....they are small, portable, and batteries last about 8 hours per charge!!"  Only thing I hated about them were the "Clamshell" type design.  Too cumbersome.  So I went looking for a "Tablet" style portable DVD player.  However the only one I could find was from some cheap company with a shtty resolution picture.....then I found it....Polaraid made what I have.  The battery lasts forever, it takes Video IN, its light enough, nice big 8" tft screen, it looks cool, the resolution is satisfactory for a refernce monitor, and most importantly the monitor part spins around and lays flat to turn it into a tablet style monitor.  I got it on eBay about a year ago. Polaroid PDV-0820.  Here's one for sale on ebay now...

But do a search for better prices.  it also comes in a 7" and huge 10" model too.

I gots all kinda toys! *smile*

Re: 450 Photos (DVX with Mini35)

Shannon, were you the host for the mini Dv Film Festival?

Re: 450 Photos (DVX with Mini35)

Ohhh, I'm so jealous of your toys. I was showing my wife your setup last night and SCREAMING "He's just a Producer and has all this equipment!" Oh you Cali people. Anyway, thanx for the link. I've actually thought about the 16:9 dvd player thing. Just trying to find a reasonably priced wireless transmitter/receiver pair. May be heading to a spy store soon, since that behemouth on 34th & 9th hasn't had anything of use since the idea hit me.

Funny you say that. Actually, my monitor is rigged with a 1.5Ghz wireless tranmitter/receiver pair. Each uses a 9V battery. I didn't use it for the MB G500 commercial shoot, because I didn't buy enough fresh 9V and didn't deem it neccessary to run to 7-eleven to pick up some. So I just hard wired the video feed into it. *smile*

Here's a photo of it....

Cool, I was there. Was a real cool event, I'm gonna have to send in a short for the next festival. I went into the saturday block when they showed that one movie that the girl made after collumbine. I showed up like half way into it, and you let me and my buddy in for like half price. You gonna do it next year to?

Re: 450 Photos (DVX with Mini35)

I give up. Now you got me feeling like Tony "Monk" Scholoub in "The Seize"...."argghh, microwaaave." ;D

Yes, ofcourse we are doing it. I can't wait to see your short. Make it interesting, shoot it good, light it good, sound good...and you're in. We are going to have allot of HD entries this year I think, so we may project in HD....still deciding. The festival has been extended 2 extra days also.
