411-53PK and HVX?

I know there's been some discussion about matte boxes for the HVX and speculation about Chrosziel, but for those who may have seen the cam in full-dress, anyone know for sure whether the Chroz 411 setup will work with the HVX as is? If not, I can't imagine needing much more than a riser change or maybe longer rods, but it would nice if that wasn't necessary.

I talked to 16X9 Inc (www.16x9inc.com). A direct dealer of Chrosziel. They said that Chorsziel will probably have to develop a newer matte box system because of the 82mm diameter lens on the HVX. The didn't have a working HVX when I talked to them, so they couldn't run test. The other problem is that there is no 82mm adapter ring.

That would stink. What's the outside diameter of the HVX lens? I know they already make 95, 97 and 105mm adaptor plates for that box. Shouldn't be too hard to make a new ring.

If you are referring to the Mattebox for the DVX w/Anamorphic it works.
Tried it myself today on the HVX. You need a new adaptor plate to go from the square anamorphic to a round 85mm. Remember the ring is always 3mm larger than the lens thread. This is available from Chrosziel.
Otherwise if you are looking to purchase, Chrosziel has a new system for the HVX that will be available in 2 weeks....the same design/side wing option as the HDV variants. Very nice and solid but admittedly a pricey option.
Personally I really like the basic 4x4 DV sunshade on the camera. It's relatively cheap, really light and will not vignette with 4x4 fiters on the HVX. All you need is a 104-85mm Clamp ring and you're set (you need a filter on the camera for it to clamp to). It's barely any larger than the HVX stock hood, and the 4x4 DV SS allows a rod adaptor and rods later if you save your$$ or find you need it. Hope that helps.
BTW I work for a Panasonic and Chrosziel dealer in Canada....so I played...I mean tested and evaluated the above items.
Hope that helps,

Cool, Brian. Thanks. That's what I needed to know. I have the 85mm adaptor plate which is what ships with the package. I'll be able to get more life out of that investment. Chrosziel gear and BMW's must be built in the same plant. $$$ :)
