4073 or MixPre

Hi, all --

I'm in the process of gradually upgrading the audio gear to go with my DVX and am trying to prioritize my purchases. Currently I have an Oktava (with BBG and K-SUS) and a Sony ECM670. On my to-get list is a 4073 to replace the Sony and also a MixPre. Does anyone have an idea of which would have a bigger impact on my sound -- a better mic, or better pre-amps? My leaning is toward the MixPre since the majority of my shooting is indoors and that's something I can use all the time.

Don't forget the other reasons to get the mixer. Getting the control off the camera, boom op can hear, limiters (input only on the mix pre), low cut, etc. I would go for the mix pre (or the 302).

Yes, that's what I'm thinking. The 302 would be my first choice, but I don't think I can sneak that one past my wife.

mix pre better then nothing , check used equip , you can hook wendt 2 which is better imo at least for the start or used 33 ,dont touch the fp-32/32a .
psc also made 3 channels and still making 1 channel preamp .
if you working interiors mainly , dont invest now for the shotgun

I just got myself a MixPre, mainly for my sound op, to give them independent sound controls and monitoring system. I love it. no complaints.
