I shoot in 4:3 on a DVX100 edit on a 4:3 timeline and then apply a 1:85 matte in post (so i can adjust headroom etc). How can i take away the matte after i am done with my final cut..i.e. end up with a 1:85 aspect with no letterboxing. I know this is a frequent question but i couldnt find anything about this.

I know that in compressor when yo load the video, there are crop lines that appear and you can crop out the black lines. When you encode, make sure you select 16:9.

I don't know if this is the best way to do this, but I know it works.
