3x3 Softbox for 1x1 Led

The LS1 is I think 2 or 3 years old. It has the same CRI and TLC as Lupo but it isn't that bright, but still plenty bright compared to other panels. I presume this is because Lupo uses a magnifying lens and bigger leds, and not because it's next gen. Although it is newer tech, so there is definitely some benefit from that! But I would say that 3rd gen, as you put it, is in COB leds. I think panels will die out, or at least there sales will go down in time due to COB...

Boss just got the Superpanel Dual Color and I took the task of seeing what kind of output it could perform. I can confirm what Sam says about the single and dual color having the same output... we borrowed a single as well to compare.

I found though that there was a slight color difference between the dual and single. The single we borrowed has a slight green tint, which also shows up on the waveform in DaVinci. The dual color was close to have having no tint. I was testing against our white cyclorama and it showed up pretty close to neutral.

Regarding output... I find lux values confusing. So I set up the FS7 mk I and gave it a test.

Cam:
- Cinegamma iso 2000
- Slog 3
- 1/50
- F 5.6 on the 28-135 lens

I had the superpanel at 100% 5600k, dangled a roll of Lee 220 roughly 20cm in front of the light, and me standing 2metres from the filter.
That setup gave correct exposure.

Tried the same with the snapbag soft box and placed the front of the soft box 2 metres from me. Same exposure values and again correct exposure.

Just to give you an indication. It's not amazingly powerful. But it is dead quite with the fan running.
To me the Lee 220 gave a nicer little less contrasty light compared to the snapbag soft box.

So... just some numbers. Hope it helps. We will be returning the single color light. Will rather pay that little extra for the possibility of having dial in color. Unfortunately it "only" goes from 3200 to 5600k.
