3D Text

I am looking for a fairly straight forward 3D for creating true 3D text. I currently have Motion 3 and I would like to be able to create 3D text, maybe some basic objects, etc. and export them with transparency to be imported into either Motion 3 or FCP6. What do you all recommend?

Blender. I'ts free & quite powerfull I hear.
I don't know anything about either program but it wouldn't hurt to have a look at it.

Thanks! I did just look at that program, but man the learning curve looks pretty steep considering what my needs happen to be. Are there any other thoughts?

If you do After Effects, check out the Zaxwerks plugin "3D Invigorator".

I just checked that out. It looks like it could something to do some of the simples things I am looking for. Do you know if there is counterpart for Mac or something similar to Coll 3D on Mac? Thanks again!

The learning curve on Blender isnt that bad if you are just using it for 3D text applications if you dont let all of its other features overwhelm you.
