What do you think of the 3D Technology & its implementations and impacts on you as directors, art directors, cinematographers, screenwriters and other creative people?

I know it is not a very soft topic, but I'd like to know the "not so distant" future?
and why one needs to get ready?

i asked many people about their opinion of 3D-TV's and Cinema, they tell me that it is a cool development - if you can take off the goggle for a while to avoid headache - they enjoy it most in cinemas.
Though the 3D features of all the new flatscreens and TV's are so cheap now, they get less used (because the lack of 3D broadcasting maybe).

In my opinion 3D will not get popular in broadcast business, it's expensive to produce a 3D movie or even a 3D news report and the postproduction effort is huge compared to 2D...

Youtube... hmm... i would say that in near future some few tech-geeks will get consumer 3D camcorders, upload "how my cat fell into the pool in 3D" and that's it. or is it worth it to do a video review of a new camera in 3D to give a better feel for that stuff? i don't think so...

I don't believe 3D really has much of a future, at least not one that will effect me or most filmmakers. 3D is still and I think always will be a gimmick. I have yet to see a film that was genuinely enhanced by 3D and in fact have only seen one film where the 3D was not plain annoying (Hugo). There will always be those that will make 3D films, but unless you are genuinely interested in it I don't see it effecting the way most of us work.
