3D printed follow focus?

I was thinking of printing one of a several different follow focus assemblies for a second cheap and small rig. There are a couple on Thingiverse and one or two more that are scattered around the web that look like they should work OK. But then I saw this:

https://www.amazon.com/Neewer-65mm-103mm-Diameter-Camcorder-Shoulder/dp/B00G34QGAU

For the $40 they are charging, not sure that printing one is worth the time.

Anyone use any of the 3D designs? Anyone use that cheap Neewer device?

My goal is compact - camera, follow focus, clip on matte box with small filters. Probably going to design and make the matte box to attach to or use some of the smaller photographic filters, something like a Lee Seven5 or Cokin P series.

I used that one as an AC on a no budget short once. It was part of the gear the shooter had. To be honest, I swapped is out with another cheap one I had a couple days in. Mine has some play, the Neewer has some more. We ended up finishing the shoot with an ikan we were lucky enough to get our hands on for free.

The great thing about Neewer is that they are cheap however the quality is generally cheap as well.
So you get what you pay for.

I'd look for a follow focus that uses metal gears in its gear box. I bought the the Neewer follow focus you linked just for the rail block, but it's useless as a follow focus. I'd look for a used Fotga DP500 follow focus on eBay if I were you. This one looks a lot better for about the same price. Or maybe this one for a little more.

I've printed about 14 focus gears using the pattern from Thingaverse. Works great once you get the size right.
