Since everyone at work knows about my video career, they have asked me to pretty much design a program that simulates a plane flying through different sections of airspace. First is designing this map with sections, altitude boundries (basically a 3d puzzle). i know i probably should be using 3dsmax(not blender) but cant find a good torrent keygen download;) so for basics i need to create a shape of say a star then make it in 3d. if i draw a star and copy paste it then move it along the z axis how can i connect the two. how can i connect two bezier points from two different objects. do i need draw a line and place it exactly where it needs to be? i cant just click click snap done? wheres the freakin boolean tool!!!!! ha okay i got carried away but am i pretty much delaying this by using motion. am i better off murdering for a copy of 3dsmax.

any opinion or information is appreciated
thanks

Just a friendly reminder that software pirating isn't a subject that's well received on the boards here.

...

Why are you trying to connect two splines? Are you trying to thicken your star model?

If so:

One way is to model it with polygons and then extrude the faces to add depth.

Another way is to extrude the spline object if your program of choice has that option.

And another way is to put both splines into a Loft Nurbs or whatever your program calls it.

As Gord said, piracy is frowned upon here. Most 3D packages have free trial versions. Can you get the trial version and use that?

Blender should be able to handle this. I hear the newest version is a major step up from previous versions. Anhar had a thread about it recently.

Some of the trial versions have water marks or in C4D's case, you are limited to a render size of 640 x 400 I hear, with 42 days before expire period, no water marks I believe, but not %100 sure.

The other thing you could do is team up with someone to handle the final renders for you or to collaborate on the job.
If your doing it all yourself you will have a learning curve with whatever software you end up using so you'll need to consider that also.

i started using blender for this project. it took me 3hrs to figure out how to create a polygon using bezier curves. this is goin to be time consuming. good thing it pays by the hour. thanks for the help
