Hey guys, could someone please tell me how to simulate a 3D light source so that an object moving in front of it appears to affect the flare in the lens?

If you're talking about a scene such as the one you linked AND it is all in one take; as opposed to a green screen and BG separate, then All I can think of is rotoscoping the BG out of the scene and setting that scene as a duplicate layer, but 2D so the light doesn't effect him. Or could be you could just duplicate the scene, making one 3D for the light and the other 2D for no light, and then garbage mat, fade in /out/in at the concerned juncture.

Yeah I should have elaborated that the BG is separate via green screen and the light source is not organic to the scene either. So I'm guessing the light source is 3D?
