well I was missing those little cardboard glasses - lost them at the Metro in '56 !
Also maybe they're not sharing how hard it was to post this stuff. They had to use a compositing software and color corrected offset image . If you google the universities name + 3d , you get the engadget article which had a nice clip of parakeets . I'd like to read more on the workflow end. Maybe there's already software that performs the compositing ? Seems like I've read that somewhere.
Interesting, need to grab a pair of red and blues to see how well it looks. I'm taking a stereoscopic 3D class at fxphd now, and wanted to try something like this using two Sanyo Xactis. But the class led me to believe it's more complicated than just lining the cameras up- that using a slate to sync the cameras wasn't precise enough and that both camera's shutters had to be in sync.
i got 2 sanyo FH1 driven by the same remote control and i do not even use a clap board, 90% of shots starts exactly synchronised at the first frame.
(stopping seems a bit less accurate, always few frame difference).
Same for the zoom, works perfectly with the remote control.
i shoot 1080p60 and downconvert to 720p60 or 30
for sure if you really shoot seriously, the clap board is mandatory to retrieve the info from the script.
except if you shoot ultrafast subjects (sports) , regular scene really does not need this accuracy.
the nice thing with digital recording (not tape) , is you get the same clip numbering on both camera, so it very easy to derush.
here is a rough take fro the FH1, just to see how it works with youtube 3D.
i use zalman monitor + realD glasses +Row interleave 1 or 2 so i do not know how it looks with other settings. I do not know what the difference is beween Row Interleave 1 and 2 , but you have to find the right one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFS44jbU2AA
I just found youtube is encoding fine on static content, but it is really a challenge to keep good quality with content a bit more dynamic. I feed youtube with WMV at high bandwidth, but it genertes pretty big files. (1280x720 side to side is 2560x720, pretty big format).
