3d glasses

Has anyone else noticed this filter in pro 2.0? Looks crazy if it does actually work well. Anyone have any expericne with it or can give a little toturial on how this sorta thing works.

I've done some 3d stuff with CG animation. You can do it with real cameras too.

The idea is that you shoot with identical cameras from roughly eye-distance apart. If you imagine a line coming straight out of each one's lens, the point where that line crosses will be the plane of the screen when you're done (things closer will pop out of the screen, things further will recede).

The post processing is very simple: use only the red channel from one camera, and only the green and blue channels from the other image (usually glasses are red-cyan). If you want to retain some colour, you include the other channels a little bit (there's a trade-off between colour and depth effect).

I haven't used the Premiere filter... maybe it does the channel tinting for you? I certainly hope it's not just a lame doubling effect (you can't create anything close to good 3d unless you've shot with two cameras).

thanks for the info. I see that another option of doing it using the filter is not just hte blue and red thing but also using interlaced lines to seperate the two cameras. What are the benefits to that method? I know that the glasses are much more expensive than just red blue filter glasses. Also can you see 3d without a double projection?
