There are lots of platforms to display 3D renderings, many CAD packages do and then there are more animation oriented apps such as Cinema 4D, etc. Depending on what you need, I'd look towards the industry of what you are after. I do some 3D CAD work for manufacturing and engineering applications, but limit my renderings to a CAD package. So what I deliver is not as realistic (though not bad given some effort) but tends to be more accurate. Motion quality is usually better from an animation app.
