35mm with XH-A1 essentials

thanks to everybody who replied. that definitely answered a lot of questions i needed to have squared off.

if its possible to focus on the A1's LCD, then that's what i'm gonna have to stick to for now. the budget just isnt there yet for a monitor. would the $299 indifocus itself be enough for adjusting focus or would it be best to just spend on the "ultimate" package?

in regards to the indifocus question, what exactly is the cinepitch gear and what is the use for the whip? still trying to learn.

i've pretty much decided to hold off on the hd monitor since a lot of people are saying that with peak and magnify, the A1's LCD can manage, with some practice. and i've noticed on pictures of other members' rigs, some use a bogen 503 with their 35mm rig. still, im considering the libec LS38 instead or perhaps the next step up from the 503.

and finally, on an A1 and SGPro/LEX, what is the recommended rod length? the rod support system with the SGpro or the LEX will serve as the baseplate, is that correct?

Cine pitch gear is the distance between the "teeth" on the lens gear and how that meshes up with the gear on the follow focus. The Indifocus doesn't use the standard cine pitch gear system so it's lens gear aren't compatible with any other FF system.

I would recommend the Libec as a minimum; the Bogen 503 is just really inadequate.

60 cm rod is a good length to start with. The SG Pro comes with its own support system, but the LEX does not.

I'm a bit confused about what you just said. Doesn't the LEX have its own support system in the Letus35 Support Rods?

If 60cm is a good rod length to start with, then should I look somewhere else? The Letus rod system is 30cm+15cm and the SGpro's is only 40cm. Actually I emailed Joel of HysonFilms and he said that he can have the baseplate at my door in 7 days. Is his baseplate better than Letus or SGPro's own? If the rods are too long, is there a chance of them being seen through the lens?
