35mm short film

Why did you do the telecine to an interlaced format? Why not 1080p?

Looks like you got a great deal on the telecine, considering your average tele is upwards 325/min or so.

325/ minute?! That is insanity! Who charges that much... laser pacific. Well the reason that we went 1080i is because we had to transfer to HDCAM and the deck does not support 1080p. If we had a D5 deck, we could swing it.

Woops, I was thinking the other way around...from video to film. Sorry.

How much is your average telecine without discount?

Telecine to HD full price is about 550-??? depending on where you go. To standard def the price is about 250-550/hour again depending on where you go and you know.

35mm! HOLY COW!

Hahaha sorry, Chris -- just had to post!

Seriously folks, film is still the undisputed champ when it comes to bragging rights (and look, but it sure as hell better at the cost!) Also, nothing is more macho than lugging around the durbinators BL III with your rippling biceps. All the film chick groupies come running As Chris will tell you.

Film can be such a pain in the arse, but its all about how one spends the dough -- you buy an HVX for 6 grand, I think? You can do a full 35mm short that looks hollywood for 3, or a music video that can play on mtv for 4. Sure, you don't have a camera sitting around, but what you do have is a slamming piece that Joe Blow whoever will look at and go, wow. (This is in all reference to look, by the way -- you still need fools walking around the set who can do the job) Also, no flamming needed, I am aware of the problems with my statement -- hell just ask Chris why I choose the DVX for my last project.
