35mm Music Video Pulldown Issues

I'm "finish" editing a 35mm Music Video

35mm footage transfered to Hard drive uncompressed SD

Editing thus done so far was Uncompressed SD 29.97 w/2:3 pulldown

Can the pulldown be successfully removed at the end???!

I'm worried about time syncing issues!

I have always removed pulldown before editing begins with no problems.... sort of a backwards approach this time... fiqured I'd ask some opinions before I dig deeper myself

The process is called a Matchback. Your 29.97 video should have the keycode burn on it. When you have locked picture, you give that to a conformer who will piece it back together. Also, I believe using Cinema Tools you can better organize/manage the whole process (I would think at the very least hopefully an EDL w/ the keycodes for the neg cutter). Never dealt with film as the shooting format myself though so I don't know the entire workflow.

I know one thing to watch out for though is reusing shots. Remember that in your NLE you can easily reuse a shot as much as you like. But if you only have 1 print of the film, then once that piece of negative is used, its used. So if you want to repeat it you'll need another print.

Also, when cutting at 29.97, you'll want to bring in your audio slightly slowed. I believe its .99 that you want to digitize the audio (DAT, etc.) at. I've done that on the Avid MC, but don't recall where that is in FCP. Anyone wanna chime in on that?

cheers.

Varicam thanks! but sorry for the confusion

final edit is on (uncompressed sd) video in FCP and the edit was started in FCP in a 29.97 timeline

basically I'm just doing post/effects/coloring and rendering out

Editing a Music Video Linear!!! now that would be scary! with all the cuts etc.

***so i guess the question remains... the uncompressed sd video comes in with a 2:3 pulldown and can that be removed after the edit somehow?
