I'm really considering trying to shoot a short on 35mm film, and I'm trying to roughly figure out the budgeting ahead of time.
I've been told that processing is a large chunk of the cost of shooting on film. Other than the fact that there are a lot more frames, is there any difference between the way they process movie film and the way they process photo film? And if so, how significant of a difference?
I've never processed before, but my Dad has two dark rooms, and has been processing film (35mm, medium format, large format, all both negative and positive) for over 30 years. I figured if I could shoot my short on film, have my Dad process the film, then send it out to be scanned, I could save a large chunk of money.
Is there hope for my plan? Or is processing movie film so much different than photo film that I wouldn't want my Dad to do it?
