35mm Film

When working with these adapters and 35mm lenses is it the same as working with a regular 35mm motion picture camera? I mean as far as forced perspective, DOF and the mathematics of it all. If you get a shot like "X" with a movie camera you will more or less reproduce the shot with the HVX, adapter and same lenses the same way?

It depends. Some 35mm adapters are set up to emulate the 35mm motion picture "gate". Those will be closest. Other adapters are set up to capture the full 35mm still frame (what would be on a 35mm still negative). Those adapters have *shallower* DOF than 35mm motion picture cameras. In other words, a greater out of focus area. Also, the same lens would appear a little wider in a still camera than on a motion picture camera.

If I remember, this issue was dicussed in one of the older threads:
One could achieve almost the same look with a 35mm lens on an 18/24mm GG as would a 50mm lens project on a 24/36mm, the latter having the advantage of a smaller grain size and more options in the wide angle range, but they are just options...
