35mm Adaptors

I like my DVX100A for general work it is fine but is it possible by using a 35mm adaptor to use this camera for wildlife filming. I have a selection of redundant SLR Pentax lenses up to 400mm. Clarity and magnification are important.

What will be the magnification on a DVX using say a 80-200mm zoom lense?

Will the resultant film be sharp?

The primary purpose of 35mm adapters used in video is for gaining control of depth of field. The lens image is projected onto a translucent surface which is then imaged by the video camera. This will obviously impact both sharpness and light loss. Short answer - you could probably get an image on a really bright day but it's going to be nowhere near the sharpness of film.

For a good overview of 35mm adapters for video check out the sticky by edwierdo (and dozens of others) located under the DIY heading. Best wishes.
