I've seen numrerous posts on the various adaptors out there, but can someone compare the 35mm adaptors that are compatible with the HVX-200? Or point me to a website where I can see the comparison of adaptors?

Here's what I need to know for each adaptor:

• Price
• Availability
• Ground Glass fixed, rotating or vibrating
• Flipped image or not
• Rod supports needed or not

We're shooting a feature in three months, so I'm trying to gather this information for the production.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Russ

Don't know of any single place with such a comprehensive comparison, but the info is spread all over these boards. You can find tons of info on all the adapters on this site. Just do a search in HVX Hardware.

Best bet IMO (as of May 2006) after many months of my own research is the Redrock M2. About $1,000. Rotating GG. Rods included. I've ordered one.

If you decide to order an M2 for your project, do it soon, it can take 6 weeks or more before it arrives...

The cinemek G35 looks very promising, in the same price range ($1,300), but not completed as of now.

good luck!
Richard

I ordered the M2 this week. the 6 week delivery is very sad... I nearly want to cancel and buy something I will beable to play with within a week. A monitor maybe ;)

Well, it looks like you've got a heck of a learning curve and a lot of check-writing ahead of you. Good for you, though, for jumping in. Welcome to the dance. There are a few threads that address this question that have been posted in the last couple of weeks (one might still be on page 1 or 2). I know one of them was about whether M2 owners were happy with their investment. Somewhere around page six, this question came up. Do a search.

As for the M2, I saw it at the HVX Bootcamp and ordered one the next week. Seeing was believing for me. Plus, I like the people there. Besides, what else is there, really? The G35 is still not available (and their site sucks!) and the P+S is out of range (price-wise).

M2 is the only real option.

The follow focus just started shipping :dankk2: And they have a lot other AKS coming out as we speak. If you are looking to own this is the best solution.

The long wait time just shows how many people are ordering this product. You need to stay ahead to get the newest and best products, just like the HVX or a XBOX360.

How does that feel on the shoulder? Is there a pad of sorts? Beautiful set-up though!

pros and cons?

pros and cons?

is the only knock on the P+S the price? how does the M2 stack up against the P+S if price were not a factor? anyone had the chance to play with both side by side?

For starters the P&S is about 7x the price.

2nd, you lose about 3 stops of light using one, meaning you'll need two and a half times the light in order to properly expose a shot.

As for the G35, it's one ugly son of a B****.

2nd, it's never coming out....

3rd, it looks ridiculous, no producer would take you seriously with a giant dildo of a camera.

Another adapter possibility is the Bevis 35. Still no footage on that one though.
