35mm adapters: What the &%$ ...

... do you all mean by the different types of materials for screens for the 35mm converters. I simply don't get it! Put a pillow over my head and smother me, cause I SIMPLY DONT GET IT.

Marlene said an AOL case.. huh?

Others have said a blank spinning CD?

The only one I got half way is the screen from the inside of a 35mm camera. Oh.. and the wax, although it seems like such a pain to make, and wouldn't it melt on hot days?

HELP, please!!

What kind of help do You need?
Do you want to know what does screen inside 35mm adapter?
Or why actually people test on different screen materials?

Sorry I wasn't clear..

I understand what the screen does.. I was just trying to figure out what types of material (and which appears best, with all the tests that everyone does here) would work best.

Also, what is the purpose of the ubiquitious "asian" macro lens?

Thanks.

This projects the image so that the camera can stay within range, when focusing and zooming (preventing vignetting).

This is what all of us had to find out the hard way, (time and money). It's here you just have to find it.

OK, I admit, this is pretty much like "35mm adapters for dummies".. me being the first sacrificial dummy, but I promise there are others out there that don't quite understand the concept, or the details, despite having poured over 25 threads...

Alright. next dummy question.. do all 35mm adapters reverse and flip the image?

There're only two that don't, Which is the

1. P+S

2. Letus

All of the others flip the image vertically and horizontally.

This will shed some light, here's how it works (the flipping part. So if the adapter doesn't have these pieces in it (the prism and the mirror), then the image will not be flipped back to normal)

actually the real purpose of the asian macro is to make you realize that cheap optics = bad images. i learned this the hard way. i am now going for the $200 century optics achromat. i suggest anyone else do the same. however, if you really want the asian crap, i have 2 of them for sale, CHEAP.

They're not that bad, I use them. I also use hoya close ups. Yes they're cheap (asian), but they get the job done. Now if you're shooting professional MV's, Shorts, Docs., etc..., then I would suggested buying a nicer macro. Most people don't have $190.00 - $490.00, just to spend on macros. So for the price, experimenting and fun you can get out of them, they're worth it.

(larger gg-to-macro distance) = less powerfull macro needed?

If the the distance between the gg and the macro was increased slightly, would a less powerfull macro then be usable?
