35mm adapters and softness!

I have a letus adapter that I have been playing with for about 2 months or so. Anyways I know that there's been discussions regarding softness in some of footage posted on this website. I know that there are times when softness is good in certain more moody pieces and such. And of course there's a few misconceptions about what softness really is.
TO GET TO THE POINT -- Since the adapter softens up the image already in camera would it be fair to say that I should not use any of the blurring features in post unless for a specific effect? I mean I'm basically trying to get away from that 'way too sharp' image we get from interlaced video. One of the techniques I have been using is putting a layer on top of a duplicate track while one is blurred out but I'm wondering if it's simply overkill? Anyone having these issues as well? I guess I'm trying to find the right balance when shooting with/without the adpater.
Thanks for any info!

Best advice I can give is, if it looks good, do it. No one can say what your footage should look like, if you think it looks too soft or too sharp then that is a personal choice. I will say that I have found that I do not need to soften edges with footage shot with the letus, and I usually shoot with the sharpness level in camera cranked up, but that is what I like my footage to look like.

Scharky,
I agree that it is simply an aesthetic choice. I was watching some of your pics for Delivery and realized that some of the footage I have been editing kinda looks like that. I'm guessing you soften them up a little more in post too though. I like them.

One question. What settings do you normally prefer to shoot in camera? Detail level +7 then?
