35mm Adapter with HVX200?

you can get shallow depth of field by pushing the camera back and zooming in. it's nice and shallow on the long end of the lens.

if you want shallow DoF at ALL TIMES, then yes, you'll need a 35mm adapter
 
Oh, OK. I saw some footage with the HVX and it was impressive. DOF was not as shallow as the footage I've seen with the G35. Just curious.
 
Will any of these homebuilt 35mm adapters built for the DVX work w/ the HVX?

Aside from the need for finer grain due to HD rez...

Will they work with the HVX lens config? I know you would need an adapter to bring the 72mm threads to 82mm, will that cause vignetting? How about the new lens macro ability, will it be able to focus close enough and fill the screen?

I'd like to build a 35mm adapter, but am kind of putting it off, wondering about futureproofing for the HVX.
 
P&S has made a ring to work with the mini35

the geurill35 is working with it.

the go35 is in the works with an HD version.

and redrock has posted some footy with the HVX

And I'd **** myself if Dan's MPIC didn't work with it.

as far as I know most are aiming for a vibrating system to minimize grain with HD formats.

I just wonder if all these poor souls beating their brains (and wallets) by building their own DIY35s are are wasting their time if they plan to upgrade to anHVX...
 
Well, I'd probably be fair in saying that a fair amount of the users here will not be upgrading to the HVX soon. It's obviously the superior camera and would I like to have one? Absolutely! But my wallet can't afford that. So I'll squeeze every last bit of cinematicness (probably not a word) out of the DVX that I can. I can see your point though. If you were planning on upgrading to the HVX it would make more sense to go with these higher end adapters or at least wait for some sort of suitable DIY solution that would work with HD. Just my two cents.

Hey rock. Where can we find that HVX redrock footage? I checked the site but didn't see it.

I think you're spot on here. The Go35HD is in the works and is aimed squarely at cams like the HVX, which would be my cam of choice if I could afford it.

It's a solid bet that the Gusker35 from Dennis Wood will work with all the HD cams as well.

I like your term, cinematicness. I have another favorite like that: techniquery.

That does the opposite of what your thinking, a step down ring is what you want
