35mm Adapter Video Tutorial

There are many ways to make a 35mm Adapter and even after making 2 adapters I'm thinking about how to make a 3rd differently but for now I'd like to share with you how I made the first 2.

I left out a lot in the tuts so I will try to list here what you need.

From The Hardware Store:
(1) Black ABS 2" Cap Nibco Part Number 5817
(2) Black ABS 2" Couplers Nibco Part Number 5801
Scrap piece of Black ABS 2" pipe
JB Weld
Sandpaper

From Ebay:
72mm +10 Macro
72mm Cokin Series P Ring
Lens Mount (I just bought non-working Canon T-70's for the mount and screws)
Canon FD 1.4 Lens

From Your Shop:
A Drill
A Dremel really helps

What I left out of videos was that you need to establish the point at which your focus screen is place from your lens which is approx. 42mm from the front of the FD mount. Use your 2" pipe as connectors between the couplers as well as distance establishers. The couplers have a ridge in the middle of them and weatherstip cords works great for building up on the 2" pipe once it's inside your connector.

And JB Weld that Cokin Ring On!

Ok......here's the videos in 2 parts and I hope they aren't too confusing. It would help if you had a basic understanding of building an adapter first and then maybe the videos will make sense to you.

Your part list seems very reasonable, which is a good thing. The videos were good, but were a bit confusing in my opinion. Maybe it's just me, and I'm just retarded, :D.

Anyways, my question for you is this: since you did a video tutorial, can you make a short written tutorial, almost like instructions?

Your awesome Marlene!

Yeah.....I was afraid my tut was a bit confusing....it's not you. I will make another and show the parts, I guess I just wasn't prepared.

Thanks!

No prob. How much did the aol case adapter cost you all together, approximately? Oh, and are the broken cameras with mounts and screws cheap?

Thank you....you are too kind. I wish I'd had the time today to redo the tut but I'm under a crunch to get a job out. I really do need to make it better and more specific. Next time I'll do it with a plan instead of adlib.

wow. im normally the one who says " read the first post" now the tables have turned, ( hides in shame )

can you post some pictures of the nikon screen and AOL screen comparison, im having trouble watching the videos

This tread is great. I have been thinking about buying one of the adaptors that are due to come out in the future and after seeing this and the results I just my try to build my own, to at least to hold me over, and if it turns out good, then it is all I need.

Thank you.

Oh I noticed some distortion on the sides of the frame in the "fast movement test" with the aol screen. Is that same effect seen when using the Nikon screen (and where can one get one of these screens)?
Sorry but more questions, did you support the adaptor with rails or is it just held on by the filter threads?

Thank you again.
