35mm Adapter setting???

I have placed an order for Brevis adapter, and can't wait for it to arrive. The only question that I haven't found on this subject is that when you zoom your DV camera in to focus on the CF screen what setting on the camera do I suppose to set on in terms of Iris ( F stop )???

There is no mandatory camera f range for a 35mm adapter, on the brevis you cant stop the lens down as much as say with an SgPro or a M2, but I have heard that to get the best results with a 35mm adapter is to try to match the lens fstop with the cameras 3.5 to matched with 3.5.
.

hope that helps,

Jon

I'm not sure exactly what you mean deankeo, or for that matter what Jon meant in his reply.

If you mean what should the iris on your video camera be when you are setting its focus on the Brevis CF screen, then the answer is always wide open if possible. Whenever you set any kind of backfocus you want to minimize the depth of field by opening your iris all the way, This will give you the most exact optical focus on the screen.

Once you've set it however, you are probably better off with an iris that is at least a little closed, because then you will increasing your depth of field on the screen and thus optimizing your corner to center focus.

Once you are shooting it's kind of a dance between 35mm f stop and video camera f stop - and you just have to balance the pros and cons of each for the shot.

Hope that answers your question.

Thanks for the advise Jon and Len,

Will try to play with it once I have it, but it makes it alot easier now that I have somewhere to start off.
