35mm Adapter questions?

First of let me say that this sight is friggin awesome! I wish I had access to the wealth of information I found here while I was in school 10 years ago.

Here goes, when using an adapter like the sgpro or letus35 do you get the same angle of view or is there a magnification factor to consider?

How do you set the aperture on Canon EOS lenses, as they do not have aperture ring on the lens? All my still photography lenses are Canon EOS/EF.

I have a DVX100a with chriozel mattebox ,rods, and follow focus. Can I use these with a letus35 or sgpro? I figure I'll need longer rods and maybe an adapter ring to engage follow focus.

:dankk2: in advance

There is no crop factor when using a 35mm adapter, unless you're forced to zoom in closer to the ground class to avoid vignetting. Then your FOV might be less than your lense's focal length.

With EF lenses, using a still camera to set aperture in DOF preview mode, then take the lense out and it will hold that f-stop.

You will probably need a gear ring for your lense to use the follow focus.

Alex,

first; "when using an adapter like the sgpro or letus35 do you get the same angle of view or is there a magnification factor to consider?"

There is a slight crop factor when you use these 2. even the brevis, but dennis wood said that by using his flip module you get a bigger image in the gg on his brevis35. The crop factor is smaller than the DSLR crop factor though.

2nd;"How do you set the aperture on Canon EOS lenses, as they do not have aperture ring on the lens? All my still photography lenses are Canon EOS/EF."

While im a nikon lens and mamiya lens user someone here said that you can set the aperture on your still camera, -remove the lens without turning off the cam, transfer it to your adapter. Im not so well versed in this technique.

Third;"I have a DVX100a with chriozel mattebox ,rods, and follow focus. Can I use these with a letus35 or sgpro? I figure I'll need longer rods and maybe an adapter ring to engage follow focus."

I believe you can use these rods to certain degree, since the sgpro uses industry standard 15mm rod blocks on their adapter but the benefit of their own rods is they come provided with shims that will allow you to accurately align your cam with the sgpro adapter.
For the follow focus that you have to work, you need lens gears which you will place on your canon lens to engage your follow focus.

Hope this helps,

Ted

Thank you Jade8472 and Teddybear for replying.

Aperture setting procedure is ridiculous. Got to really think about getting this damn thing now as I'll need Nikon lenses.
