35mm adapter materials

Hey there, been reading for some time and finally decided to post for the first time.

Anyways, I have a pv-gs300 that i would like to build a static 35mm adapter for.

I was hoping to model my adapter after Edweirdo's:

However, seeing as his camera is a tad different then mine, and I am what you would call a novice, I would like to know if some of you would be able to tell me which materials I will need to use.

After scanning forum after forum, thread after thread, I have become a little frustrated as to find what will work right for my situation.

Ok, so I managed to dig up an old Olympus camera that I can use the lense from, if you think it will work.

If you would mind telling me what sort of materials I should use, and what size to get, (and in layman's terms) I would much appreciate it.

Also, I wouldn't mind opting for a decent gg screen rather than a wax one, if you think it is better.

ok, my (olympus) lense is 50mm, should i replace all the tubes and lenses to 50mm size, or will that mess with the focal flange.

The reason I'm asking is in the tutorial, the author gives pretty specific dimensions (46.5 - 45mm) for the focal flange; the infinite focus wont be right if you dont get this right.

(I must admit i dont know what the "focal flange" is)

or

Should i just use his specs and a get a reducer to git my lense(50mm)

or

buy a diff lense?

most people use Canon or Nikon lenses because they seem easy to find and can be inexpensive. However, you can use your lenses just as long as the f2.8 or lower. my lenses are 50mm f1.4, 28mm f2.0 (Canon FD). If you want to make a adapter for a Olympus lenses the link below is for a tube that will work with certain Olympus lenses. if you get 2 you can have more play in judging the proper distance between the lens and the GG. The only problem is if you use a Olympus tube and lenses you will have to to find out the diameter of the tube and see if it will work with one of those prefabricated static adapter GG holders or make your own (unless you have access to a CNC machine , buy one). Easiest option is to go canon or Nikon. the main issue will me the lens mount.

Both companies have some good glass. However, it seems that a lot of the pros on this board prefer Nikon. Canon lenses seem to be cheaper in cost. If I were you I would to a search on ebay, Band H and adorama to see which has to best price/ function ratio. Also, remember, you will probably want to have 2 to 3 lenses (usually a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8f, 28mm 1.8, 2.0 or 2.8f and a 85mm 1.8 or 2.0f) so see which option (Nikon AI or Canon FD) will allow you to get all the lenses you will need at the price you want to pay.

Good luck!
