35mm adapter for HVX200?

I second that. I know there are a lot of 35mm adapter threads in this forum...but with the importance and technical use that goes along with the 35mm...who can blame us?

There is actually a dedicated forum for adapters. They all (meaning the ones that are frequently mentioned and within the 1k price range) have their pluses and minuses, and in terms of quality, they all seem to be in range of one another.

You really have to decide what you prefer in an adapter and make your own decision.

You should read the stickies at the top of this forum to be familiar with the different types of adapters available.

It's also good to talk to people that have used a couple of adapters because most of us (myself being one of them) have one adapter and none to compare.

I personally narrowed my choice down to the Letus FE and do not regret it. You just screw it on and it's ready to go. It flips the image so I don't have to deal with upside down and backward images. Then again most people do deal with it and it doesn't bother them. You have to go through the list of pros and cons and decide how you're going to use it and make your decision. For example, the mirror that flips the image in the Letus reduces your light another F stop. If working with less light is going to make you crazy you shouldn't get an adapter with a flip module.

There is enough information to help you make a good decision. And I honestly believe that the ones you mentioned are all great adapters. Good luck!

I HIGHLY recomend the SGpro. Having used both the M2 and the SGpro, the Sgpro is much better and easier to setup in my opinion. I have posted a small review in the 35mm adapter section of the forum

I would recommend the SGpro or Brevis35. I personally prefer the Brevis for its small form factor and interchangeable ground glass screens... here's a pair of framegrabs (ungraded) from the feature I'm shooting with the Brevis 35 and HVX200.

I love that second grab!

i had the Letus 35 and now I switched to the SGpro r3..I not looking back at my decision. Wayne has it together. PS I just bought the FollowFocus from Wayne...I hope it is far superior than the indiefocus I currently have.

Hey smithy,
let me know how that ff works out for you.
Actually i'd be interested in coming and checking it out one day if you have some time.
Let me know.

Hey so you werent to satisfied with the letus35 I've been looking at the letus35 fe. I like the price and the flip feature.

Personally, I couldn't deal with the constant cleaning of the dust in the chamber nor not having my lens locked down to the adapter. Needless to say I also wanted to be able to use my heavier primes on my adapter without the need of a secondary support of the lens. The way Wayne has it ...I don't need it with the SGpro and the edge to edge clarity is what got me sold...not the flip or the price. Using Cineform HDLink.... I can capture it flipped and runs smoother in my editing program (vegas).

No adapter is a substitute for a good script and acting. Many indie helmers are so intoxicated by the "bokeh" that they use the focus to excess, expecting the rest of us to drool over the DOF. Instead their shorts just seem overstylized, and not much more. The two best short films I've seen on this forum in the past 6 months were shot on a sub-$1k cam with no adapter.
