hi. may someone please explain to me in basic English how this really works especially as regards the stock camera lens? well i have read about it. i really do understand the concept of a 35mm lens projecting an image on a ground glass, which the stock lens then "sees" and records. but does that really mean that the other functions of the stock lens like its Focus, Zoom functions etc are disabled?

The only thing that's completely disabled is focus. All turning the camera's focus ring will do is defocus the image, it won't make anything new sharp. Zoom and iris are still possible to adjust. However, you can't zoom in too much on the ground glass before it goes out of focus, and the camera's iris will have no effect on the depth of field, unlike the 35mm lens's iris.
