35mm adapter converted for C-Mount lenses?

Hey I'm looking at getting a 35mm adapter for my HV20 and one of my biggest debates is over what lens mount I should get with the adapter.

After lots of researching it seems that the Canon EF lens would be the most versatile and allow for the largest possibilities of getting an adapter should I use a Nikon lens or M42. However I have recently come across some C-Mount lenses and it doesn't look like you can adapt a C-mount lens to fit an EF mount due to back focus.

My question is what lens mount can I get that I can use C-mount lenses? more specifically what 35mm adapter offers a mount that can be converted to take C-Mount lenses?

Thanks

Whatever lenses you decide to go with make sure you have full manual controls of apature and focus. If I'm not mistaken the newer EF series lenses from Canon dont have a manual apature control but are controlled by the camera body itself. Similar to the G series lenses from Nikon.

c-mount lenses are going to be worth very little to a 35mm adapter user. Most c-mount lenses barely cover 16mm film, and would result in a big circle with black borders all around on a 35mm adapter frame.

When you say C mount, do you mean the screw in type that they use on CCTV and machine vision cameras?

I'd go with an EF. I have this and actually don't have a single EF lens. I have two M42 lenses, one of which is a 50mm 1.4 that I simply love, and the other is a cheap Soligor zoom(good glass but isn't very fast at 4.5).

I'm still waiting to find myself a good Super Multi Coated version of this lens(50mm 1.4 super takumar), which from what I hear is just a super duper lens :)

M42's are generally pretty inexpensive too, so you can pretty much take a few gambles on cheaper glass, and have a wide selection from which a few will be good....then of course you can also get some actual EF lenses.
